Top 25 Most observed tide pool organisms in seattle

Here is a list of the top 25 most observed tide pool organisms in Seattle. I made this list based on observations submitted to the iNaturalist app from May 2018 - October 2020. If it's your first time going tide pooling, or you are new to Seattle's tide pools,  you can use this list as a guide. The more familiar you are with these creatures the more likely you are to see them! I have included a map of tide pool locations at the bottom where these organisms are likely to be seen.

Consider taking photos of your findings and submitting them for identification on iNaturalist. By adding your observations you help build a better picture of the biodiversity of Seattle. This information is useful for scientists who monitor species health.

Remember these simple tide pooling rules during your adventures to ensure you minimize harm to the animals you are observing.
